The Chikmagalur Multipurpose Social Service Society (CMSSS) was registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 in July 1978. It serves as the official social development organization of the Catholic Diocese of Chikmagalur.
For over 46 years, CMSSS has worked across the two civil districts of Hassan and Chikmagalur, dedicated to improving the lives of poor and marginalized communities — irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.
Focus Areas
Women Empowerment
Micro-financing, federated Self-Help Groups (Jeevan Jyothi Federation), rights advocacy, and social awareness.
Livelihood & Income Generation
Vocational skills for youth (FVTRS), livestock revolving funds (Save A Family Plan), and rural micro-enterprises.
Mainstreaming Differently Abled
National pilot with CBR Forum India, organizing 155 Village DPOs, assistive aids, and Sarvodhaya Okkuta.
Natural Resource Management
Sustainable agriculture, check dams, watershed conservation, and environmental tree plantations.
