The Chikmagalur Multipurpose Social Service Society (CMSSS) was registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 in July 1978. It serves as the official social development organization of the Catholic Diocese of Chikmagalur.

For over 46 years, CMSSS has worked across the two civil districts of Hassan and Chikmagalur, dedicated to improving the lives of poor and marginalized communities — irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.

Enabling rural families to lead their own development through women's self-help groups, disability organizations, and vocational skill training.

The five governing objectives of Chikmagalur Multipurpose Social Service Society:
